Let the sun shine in

Let the sun shine inYou can transform a dull, dim family room –or any room- into a dramatic, sun filled area by adding a skylight.

Skylight come in a variety of styles and can be installed with different shaft angles to direct light where you want it. Use a small skylight to illuminate a reading nook or highlight a sculpture, a large one to diffuse light trough out a room.

Acrylic is the most common skylight material. It is available in clear sheets (for overhead views) or translucent panels (to reduce glare and diffuse light).

Where sunlight is intense, hot spots on floors can be avoided if you select skylight with built in shutter, use insulated double domes, or block light below the shaft with horizontal curtains or shutters. Installing a translucent panel beneath a skylight shaft at the ceiling line is another way to diffuse light; it also controls heat loss.

On these pages you’ll see some of the skylights available for home installation as well as different skylight adaptations.

Trough a skylight thinly

A single, skinny skylight brings an illuminating strip of light to a reading corner.

Light shaft angles

Shaft tunnel in light when there is space between root and ceiling

Trough ceiling panels

Lights pours into a music alcove off the family room through bronze tinted tempered skylight panels placed between the trapezoidal shapes of the alcove, the panels bring the outdoor into the entire area.

Trough a window wall

Light and spaciousness are shared by the rooms on each side of this dramatic window wall. The skylight over the raised, tiled spa also seems to belong to the adjacent family room. Such lavish use of glass creates a Moorish courtyard atmosphere.

Your write-up has added wonderful benefit in your webpage. I say this mainly because to me personally I find it valuable. Possibly to some one else that it is not but to me you did excellent. Thank you with the data.
