A playroom often doubles as a party room. It’s hard to give a dull party in a room equipped with amusements like pool, pinball, and darts. And if refreshment and snack are handy at a bar, your party is sure to be a success. But be sure to check your local regulations before planning what amounts to a second kitchen; a recreation room bar and sink usually are permitted in a single family house, but some zoning ordinances prohibit adding cooking facilities.
Custom touches in flooring, wall, and ceiling treatments can be as sophisticated or zany as you like in a playroom. You can lay down different color of vinyl tiles or carpet tiles to make your own patterns, or continue sheet vinyl or carpeting up the wall. If you are handy with a paint brush, you can stencil super graphics on a wall or draw murals. Whatever custom finishing touches you add, the amount of wear and tear they will have to endure should guide your materials selection.
Lively game in a lively room
Cheery red plaid rug adds the custom touch that brings this daylight basement to life. White ceiling and heart make the small playroom seem larger and lighter. Red banquette provide spectator seating while wicker chairs from separate conversation / reading area. Feathery greenery contrasts effectively with the bold decor.
A good setting for a party
That’s what the owners wanted when they remodeled their basement. Bar to the right is a step higher than the lounge and entertainment area. Low storage unit acts as divider and pass-trough. Warm wood tones, richly tiled fireplace, and special lighting in the arches above the wall beams create a relaxing scene for entertaining.

I’m currently doing a study on antique lamps and the history of lampshades. Thanks for your posts.
